Teamwork makes the dream work.

We are proud to share the completion of the Operations Room in Matopos National Park (Zimbabwe)… this was a project delivered through collaboration and relentless commitment.

An effective ops room is critical: we like to see it as a nerve-centre that supports conservation on the ground.

It exists to:

– Support field teams in real time
– Coordinate rapid, informed responses
– Provide operational oversight
– Capture and manage data to drive smarter decision-making

The control room was fully renovated and equipped, with EarthRanger configured specifically for Matopos and a SERCA integration ready to strengthen data collection and analysis. Garmin InReach patrol tracking and VHF tactical communications are now live, enabling real-time coordination and stronger support to teams on the ground.

The ops room completion wraps up supporting anti-poaching operations in Matopos National Park, following months of equipment procurement and 4 weeks of ranger training on site.

This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible partnership and support of Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks), Rhino Recovery Fund, Dambari Wildlite Trust and Matopos Conservation Society.

We are grateful to our implementing partners who brought technical expertise and execution excellence: Off-Grid Consulting, Meddev, Everywhere Communications, and the SMART-Earth Ranger Conservation Alliance (SERCA).

And the final word must go to the people who made it happen on the ground:
Our outstanding trainers and the dedicated Zim Parks team: Ms Kwanele Kanengoni-Manungo, Mr Thembelani Sibanda and Mr Nyasha Eric Shenje.

Collaboration makes a world of difference.
