These incredibly brave rangers risk their lives protecting wildlife and each other. Our mission at Chengeta is to give them the best training available and the kit essential to get the job done safely.
Each month-long training session leads to many poacher arrests and builds self-assurance in the rangers who continue using our program to apprehend poachers safely and effectively, long after we leave an area.
When we started our work in Malawi, twelve outstanding rangers were selected. They have subsequently taken turns as Rory’s assistant trainers, their responsibilities increasing with each session. By the time we complete our work in the country, these twelve elite rangers will be ready to pass on their training to others in the Malawian DNPW.
Other countries and anti-poaching organizations are eagerly waiting to receive our advanced training. Funding is the only thing keeping our training from those who need it.
Our work has been funded by individuals who recognize the value of our program. No governments or large corporations, just regular people from over 26 countries who took action.
So far, 100% of donations from the public have gone to support our work in the field. Chengeta Wildlife is managed by volunteers.
